ER softball teams clinches the CAAC white division championship with a sweep over Lansing Catholic!

 

Game 1

The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Eaton Rapids Greyhounds Varsity Softball came out on top against Lansing Catholic, 12-9.

Eaton Rapids fired up the offense in the first inning, when Flora Steien singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Greyhounds pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning.  In the third Kayleigh DeShais singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, Cadence McGuirt doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Brooke DePeel singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

DeShais was credited with the victory for Eaton Rapids Greyhounds Varsity. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing 12 hits and nine runs while striking out ten.

The Lad Greyhounds tallied 15 hits in the game.  Zoe Newberry, Zoe Alvarez, Steien, Hailey DePeel, and McGuirt all collected multiple hits for Eaton Rapids.  Newberry went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Eaton Rapids in hits.

Game 2

Eaton Rapids Softball defeated Lansing Catholic 12-2 on Tuesday thanks to a timely seven runs in a big fourth inning.  Eaton Rapid’s big bats in the inning were led by doubles by Ella Patrick and Cadence McGuirt and a home run by Zoe Newberry.

The victory clinched the CAAC white title for the Greyhound!

The Greyhounds got on the board in the first inning when Flora Steien singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

The Greyhounds pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning.  In the third Hailey DePeel singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs and Brooke Burns singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Eaton Rapids put up seven runs in the fourth inning.  Patrick, Newberry, and McGuirt all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Kayleigh DeShais earned the win for the Greyhounds. The righty went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking one.

The Greyhounds tallied one home run on the day. Newberry had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

Eaton Rapids tallied ten hits.  Patrick and DePeel each had multiple hits for the Greyhounds.  DePeel and Patrick each collected two hits to lead Eaton Rapids.
