Wow, what a feeling! In the short period of time I have been a Greyhound I could not be more pleased with the effort our young men, parents, administration, and community have given to the program. It has been a remarkable welcome! We have set goals, we have worked towards our goals and we continually strive in making our goals.

Our Touchdown Club has done a remarkable job creating, organizing, and running two huge fundraisers. The dinner community service auction was a huge success. Never thought we would top that event but then came the golf outgoing which ended up being a bigger success. the hard work was a reflection of the commitment our parents, community, and administration have taken to change the culture of our football program. During these busy events, our TD Club also organized clean up at Speedway Track, 50/50 raffles, and T-shirt sales. This along with the many events and dinners planned has been excellent. The support we saw with the discount card sale also was very successful.

Summer was a very successful learning experience for the kids and coaches. We had great involvement and participation. The summer workouts never fell below 30 and that helped us have 47 kids in the program. Very excited about the future of ER Football. Our Seniors are leading the way and paving the path to changing the culture. Very excited how this group of Seniors has taken on this very important task. ER is on its way - the bus is full of gas and the pedal is floored!

Our first game on Thursday was a great success. The scoreboard did not show the many positives that we had.  We will get better. I do want to take a moment and explain what our kids, coaches, and community got out of Thursday's football game:

* The true meaning of WHY we can play these games.

* An event that  brought Eaton Rapids together as a Community

* 130 youth football players coming together as present and future players. 

* A memory that will last a lifetime.

Let's continue to ride the Greyhound bus - Its only gonna get better!!!!

Outlook of this Friday's game vs Ionia:

They are 1-0 - Beat a playoff team last year.

They have a shifty Quarterback

Their defense swarms and shows a unique attack with their 3 interior down lineman.

The keys for us to win:

Our defense can not let their backs cut back and find open lanes - we must break down and tackle and not over-pursue.

We must hang on to the ball on offense. 5 turnovers will not make it a good outcome.

We must score if we are inside the 25-yard line four times.

We must:

trust each other

Play together

Get tougher in all three phases of the game.
