Playing the 2nd of back to back games, the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds visited Battle Creek Pennfield tonight. What ended up being a battle of two star players, Eaton Rapids couldn't slow down the guard from Pennfield, Kaylee Glidden, as she went for 32 points tonight.
It was a slow start for the Lady Hounds, only being able to manage 5 points in the opening quarter, trailing 5-15. The 2nd quarter went back forth a bit, as neither team seemed to be able to make a run. Pennfield went into the half leading 24-13.
In the 3rd quarter, both teams found their offensive groove, igniting for a combined 35 points! As the Greyhound offense came alive, it was only enough to pull slightly closer to Pennfield and trailed 31-41 at the quarter break. In the 4th quarter, the teams traded baskets, before Eaton Rapids went on a little run, pulling to within 6 at 46-41. Unfortunately, time was running out, and the host Panthers dealt with some tough pressure, scoring on three straight possessions. The Greyhounds fought to the end, but ended the game losing 41-53.

Playing as a team, the Lady Hounds had 5 different players score in the opening quarter, and by the end of it they had a 11-7 lead. In the 2nd quarter, both teams began to put the ball in the basket at a better rate and by halftime, the Greyhounds maintained a 4 point lead, 25-21.
In the 3rd quarter, Eaton Rapids really focused on the defensive end, limiting the Wolves to just 6 points in the quarter, and while it limited them on the offensive side of the ball, the Greyhounds pulled ahead slightly more, winning 33-27. In the 4th, the defense from the Lady Hounds was even tougher, holding Okemos to just 5 points, and then put the game away with some great foul shooting for the 43-32 win.
Sofia Kingsley led the way with 19 points for the Greyhounds. Kylie Alvarez scored 7 in the win, while Ashley Brown added 6, Ayla Worden had 4, Lori Sy had 3, Lauren Malone and Zoe Newberry both had 2 apiece. Eaton Rapids next play in a back to back game against Pennfield.

Lose: 22 - 35
The Lady Hounds traveled to Portland tonight and faced the Raiders in the opening conference game for both teams. As the game started, it was clear the advantage Portland had in the past few years was no longer around, as the teams traded baskets and while Portland led after the 1st quarter, a 11-6 score showed that the Greyhounds were there to make it a battle. As the 2nd quarter got underway, tough defense limited both teams on the offensive end, and by halftime, it was a 6 point game with Portland holding a 20-14 edge.
In the third quarter, Portland came out and tried to establish themselves as the more dominant team scoring 10 unanswered points. But the Greyhounds weren't done, and exchange student Lori Sy sunk in a 3-pointer followed by a layup to end the quarter on a Eaton Rapid's mini-run of their own, and they trailed 30-19. In the 4th quarter, both defenses once again took hold, with both teams scoring 5 or less points for the quarter, ending in a 35-22 Portland win.
The Greyhounds were led by Sofia Kingsley with 10, while Lori Sy tacked on 5. Rounding out the scoring was Flora Steien with 3, Kylie Alvarez with 2, and Ashley Brown with 2. The Greyhounds have a busy week next week with 3 games in 5 days. They start at home against Okemos on Monday, December 12, with games against Pennfield and Ionia to round out the week.

St. Johns jumped to an early lead of of back to back 3-pointers, followed by a steal and layup, making the score 8-0 in the blink of an eye. While Eaton Rapids calmed down, refocused, and began to play well, the shots just weren't falling, even with good looks, and they went scoreless in the first quarter, trailing 0-13. In the 2nd quarter, the Lady Hounds played well, outscoring the visiting Redwings 9-8 in the quarter, trailing at halftime 9-21.

| Coach Dan Langland
Lose: 32 - 44
The action was fast and furious tonight as the Lady Greyhounds traveled south to face Marshall in a rematch of last year's district championship. Much like that game though, the Redhawks from Marshall came out on top.
As the tip went up tonight, the Greyhounds jumped out to a lead behind Sofia Kingsley back-to-back 3-pointers, 6-2. For the rest of the quarter, both teams used faced paced play to push the score to a 15-13 Greyhounds lead at the end of the first. In the second quarter though, the Greyhounds offense stalled a bit, scoring only 4 points in the quarter as Marshall poured it on and took a 30-19 lead at the halftime break.
In the 3rd quarter, the Greyhounds clawed back, trimming the Marshall lead down to single digits, getting it to a 24-30 deficit. But the Redhawks answered with a basket and three free throws to pull back ahead by 11. A final bucket by Ayla Worden cut the lead to 9 at the end of the 3rd quarter, 26-35. In the 4th quarter, Eaton Rapids again made a run on back to back layups, cutting the lead to 5 for Marshall. After a basket by Marshall made the lead 7, the Lady Hounds made a final push to pull even, but it fell short. Marshall then iced the game with a few free throws, with a final result of 44-32.
The Greyhounds were lead once again by Sofia Kingsley with 15 points. Ayla Worden added 6 points, Abbi Thompson added 5, and Flora Steien, Zoe Newberry, and Kylie Alvarez all added 2 points each to round out the scoring.
Join the Lady Greyhounds on Tuesday for their home opener as they look for their first win of the season when they host St. Johns. JV play begins at 5:30 and the Varsity follows at 7:00.
Girls Varsity Basketball vs. Hastings High School

Lose: 48 - 54
The Lady Hounds came up just short tonight in a loss against Hastings on the road. The game had many swings back and forth, but ran out of time for a comeback and finished with a 48-54 loss. The game got off to some fast paced action though, with the Greyhounds jumping out to a 10-4 lead off of an aggressive press. By the end of the first quarter, Hastings had clawed back into it and Eaton Rapids led just 12-10. In the 2nd quarter though, the Saxons took control, using a tough zone defense, took the lead and then extended it to 27-15. But your Lady Greyhounds fought back, pulling within 6 at the half, down 21-27.
In the third, we roared alive with a 12-2 scoring run, grabbing a lead of our own, 33-29. Both teams traded baskets and by the end of the 3rd quarter, it was a tight 36-34 Greyhounds lead. In the 4th quarter though, foul troubles spelled doom for the visiting Greyhounds, as Hastings was able to pull back in front and go up 50-41 with some timely free throw shooting. But we were not done yet, and went on a burst with 3 minutes left in the game. Two 3-pointers by Sofia Kingsley and a pair of free throws from Lauren Malone rallied the Greyhounds, pulling to within 3 at 48-51. Sadly, that was as close as they would get as Hastings iced the game with a few free throws, ultimately winning 54-48.
Leading the way for the Lady Hounds was Sofia Kingsley with 20 points. Abbi Thompson chipped in 8. Rounding out the scoring was Ashley Brown with 6, Zoe Newberry with 5, Flora Steien with 4, Lauren Malone with 2, Kylie Alvarez with 2, and Lori Sy with 1.
The Greyhounds are next in action on Friday, December 2 at Marshall.
