The Eastside Stars hockey team kicked off the 2023-2024 season on Friday, 11/17, with their home opener against the Tri-Valley Titans.  Fueled by an energetic crowd, the Stars emerged victorious by a score of 5-0 led by Jack Monaghan (ER) with 2 goals and 1 assist and Kyle Raynor (Holt) with a "playmaker" (3 assists).  In addition, Jonny Stohr (ER), Evan Warner (Haslett), and Chase Parrott (Holt) tallied their 1st goals of the season, while Dante Munger (Okemos) added 2 assists.  Jack Drouare (EL), Charlie Winslow (Okemos), Evan McCreary (Okemos), and Ellie Dart (Okemos) added assists to round out the Stars scoring, while Leland Alvarez (Okemos) pitched a  shutout in net.

On Saturday, 11/18, the Stars hit the road to face the perennial powerhouse Chelsea Bulldogs.  The game was fast-paced and physical, and after 3 periods of play plus overtime, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Kicking off the scoring for the Stars was Evan McCreary, assisted by Cade Greene (Holt) and Devin Dart (Okemos).  In the 2nd period, Jonny Stohr tallied a power-play goal with help from Kyle Raynor and Jack Monaghan, but the Bulldogs responded with a goal in the 3rd to tie the game and send it to overtime.  Reed Drouare (EL) was stellar between the pipes with 38 saves to keep the Stars unbeaten on the season.

After a short break this week, the Stars return to action on Nov 29 @ Jackson United with the next home game at East Lansing Ice Cube on Friday, Dec. 1 vs. Portage and another road match on Saturday, Dec. 2 @ Jackson Lumen Christi.
