Congratulations Greyhounds!   District champs for the first time in 20 years!  The girls came to play against district and league rival Olivet.  80 minutes of dominant soccer ended their district play with a very decisive 4-0 win.  Kylie Grubaugh started the hounds scoring assisted by Hannah Garity.  The next goal, the most exciting goal of the game, was scored by Mara Elorza.  She headed in a rebound from a Kennedie Crow shot.  The girls went absolutely nuts cheering for her.  With a 2-0 lead at halftime, the girls never let up.  Kylie and Hannah hooked up a second time for the third ER goal.   The last goal was rocket shot by Kylie Alvarez from a Sophia Monroe throw in.  Amirra Tello earned her 9th shutout of the season.

All the girls played well, and everyone deserves recognition, but a couple in particular need a special shout out.  Outside back Lauren Mills had an outstanding district round, shutting down attackers from Qunicy and Olivet.  She helped the hounds finish district play with only 1 goal against.  Kylie Grubaugh put together her best two games of the season and was overwhelming on offense scoring 3 goals and getting an assist.  Kylie Alvarez was an absolute force in the middle.  She owned 50/50 balls and connected our team all season, but her level of play at districts was even more outstanding than it had been all season.  Madison Norton, after being injured for a long stretch of the season, came back and locked down our backfield and provided some much needed depth on our bench.

It is “One More” time for the hounds, treating each game as one more.  We play Tuesday at 7 PM against Ovid Elsie in the regional semifinal.  Please come out and support our postseason run as we fight for “One More” for our seniors.
