Here’s what coaches had to say about our female Athlete of the Year:

“She was single handedly the best teammate and encourager in our gym. She is resilient, motivated, and truly a team player, wanting those around her to succeed as much as she does. She was never afraid to ask questions or help another player. she displayed an immense amount of leadership, she extended a lot of grace, she was exceptionally coachable, dependable, humble, and put hours in the gym that no one else saw. Shel always strived to be the best version of herself and was an outstanding representation of sportsmanship……… She is incredibly deserving of the Senior Athlete of the Year award.

His coaches shared, “he is an amazing kid with a big heart. He is a big reason why the vibe of our team is so wonderful.  He shows up to practice with a smile and is ready to work hard.  His teammates look up to him, and they can trust him to lead the team.  He builds his teammates up and encourages them to believe in their own goals. He has a way about him that everyone around him feels special and included. He has gained the respect of his coaches and teammates through his work ethic, and he has made a lasting impression will all of us in our program. I was incredibly luck to have had the opportunity to coach him.  This young man was a four-year varsity swimmer who qualified for the state meet all four years.   This year at the state meet he placed 6th in the 200 Free & 8th in the 100 Free earning him All State in both events.  He also won Swimmer of the Year for the Red CAAC division.  He was a team captain this year in both cross country and swimming.  He led by example never missing one practice his senior year while helping the team to their best league finish in over five years.  He is also planning on attending Kalamazoo College to continue his swimming career.
